OPTRIC core value · exact definition

Designed Simplicity

  • Reduce avoidable complexity in language, process, tools, experience
  • Not about hiding complexity — organizing it for clarity

Put it into practice

A shorter instruction is useful only if it remains true. Start with what someone needs to do, make the relevant status clear and place exceptions where they are easy to find. Remove repetition and unexplained shorthand; retain the conditions that affect a decision. Simplicity should make the work clearer, not conceal what still needs checking.

Real-life example · Fictional scenario

Fictional example · Maple Works

The update is accurate, but hard to use.

Sam receives a long message combining delivery history, setup notes and readiness information. Two tablets from the latest delivery still need checks. Sam needs to understand which tablets staff can use and which remain unresolved.

Your turn

Which update is clearest and still complete?

Choose a response for the fictional situation above.

Choose one, then check the explanation. You can try each option. This practice is not scored or saved.

Which update is clearest and still complete?

Your contribution

Before sharing an instruction or update, ask: can the next person find the action, the relevant facts and the important exceptions? Use plain language and preserve uncertainty where it affects the decision.

Module takeaway

The four values guide different parts of a practical choice: see the relevant connections, keep responsibility clear, learn over time and organize complexity for clarity. Next, consider how your role contributes to connected work.
